Parts
The parts themselves are wonderful but shipping took a very long time (3 weeks) and my local FedEx made that process even worse. Good product, slow shipping.

Had to make some modifications some of the brackets didn't line up they where close had to bend some of the pipe to it wold fit and not rub on frame some of the hangers had to be bent to fit. I did this on a lift so it was easier. On the ground would have been a nightmare. Sounds good though and no CEL
I often hear people complain about sound..... Well... I put these on a 99 Legacy Outback, 2.5 NA, with everything else being 2.25", high flow cat, and a center in center out stainless turbo muffler. It has just enough sound, but not too much. It's all about the set up.
Just got them on and i have to say i am happy with the sound i get from them ,but gets a little raspy at anything over 3500 RPM. Fitment was a issue do to the fact that i did not have new header studs. Have a few issues to work out with some exhaust leaks ,but from my experience with headers this is a common problem
Jason, if you JDM has “stock locations of the three main bolt-up sections of basic American versions, like my Forester S, then I believe that you would enjoy these awesome HEADERS and DOWNPIPE combo. FYI. Look into an oil filter relocate kit from MISHIMOTO.com
I believe you will have to alter and modify areas to make it fit. Like the brackets for the downpipe does not match and I believe the headers on yours coming out is shorter. I would double check online to be sure what you are getting into before buying.
Iâ€:tm:m installing my on an 07 Impreza. I asked the same question about my 07 and someone said it would fit mine with slight modifications. Not what that is yet. So I canâ€:tm:t answer your question. Good luck n
Not sure if it would fit the 05 outback but it fit fine on my 2001 2.5rs with the exception of having to get a smaller oil filter. I imagine if its the same motor it should fit the only problem would be if it came out to the right spot under the car.
Not 100% positive for an 08, as the chassis is different, but they do get quite warm. I have these installed on an 01 Forester (same chassis as a 98-02 Impreza) and they sit uncomfortably close to the oil filter. Fit and finish is quite nice compared to other budget headers, though! SEM really came through when I was in a pickle as well, and were very helpful.
yes it is possible that it could misfire. I would also check spark plugs and injectors. Maybe a Full maintenance. Clogged cats will eventually come apart and make a tin can noise. The inspection part I am unsure, since we are in California. It would not pass here but if visual inspection was evaded it pass, since there would be no CEL. I am unsure though in NJ. I hope this helps.
